Comer Science & Education Foundation (CSEF) was founded in 1998 and is dedicated to seeding ideas and supporting innovative programs that make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of individuals and their communities. Gary Comer's philanthropic work began in Greater Grand Crossing, the Chicago neighborhood where he grew up. The initial focus to improve education and the well-being of children and families in the community was realized with the opening of Gary Comer Youth Center in 2006. Since then, the foundation’s vision has expanded to include strategic partnerships to strengthen the community through a unique combination of workforce development and neighborhood revitalization efforts.
